March 3rd 2011
In the poorest communities around the world, women and girls are often the ones tasked to collect water, firewood or other basic necessities of life. They walk on average 6 kilometres a day (approximately 8,000 steps) while carrying the equivalent of a suitcase. This leaves little time to attend school, access health services or earn money to support their families.

Yet CARE knows that when women and girls are empowered to tackle these issues, whole families and communities directly benefit. This is why CARE believes the empowerment of women and girls is instrumental in the fight against poverty.

To help break the cycle of poverty and in celebration of the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day (March 8, 2011I’ve decided to join CARE Canada’s Walk in Her Shoes challenge. I will make a difference for women, girls and whole communities living in poverty around the world.

I will be walking 6 kilometres every day from March 2nd, finishing on March 8th (International Women’s Day) to raise funds to help fight global poverty. I need your support to reach my fundraising goal!

Taking part is easy, you can register as an individual or as a team and get your group, school or workplace involved in this national challenge.

She has the power to change her world.
You have the power to help her do it.
He came and seen me at work and asked me if i go the job, i told him that i haven't herd and it didn't sound to promising. He leans in and says "She called me today!" BIG SMILE..."She DID and what did you say!!"

"I told her that Wal-mart is going to suck now, because your the only one who knows what your doing!"

That was Friday. I got the call saturday afternoon...

"Hello, Tamara?" yes i replied. "How would you like the job?" I would love it! "Oh, i wasn't expecting that, well thats  good its yours!"

I have now been working at my new job for three weeks now, and i couldn't be happier!
I am a photographers assistant, which means a lot of things.
I will be able to do everything...

  • take portraits in the studio
  • run the lab, printing pictures
  • retouching photos
  • restoring photos
  • taking passport pictures
  • cleaning - like in every job
  • and new things i still haven't learnt yet!
I love learning new things everyday! It makes me feel so good. We booked a local basketball tournament, Hoopla, and i get to shoot that, which is awesome.

I love my job and everything about it! The studio is open Monday - Saturday 9:30-5:30. Its cant get any better that that!!
The interview went great! I brought in a portfolio with a whole bunch of pictures, which really impressed her as well. We talked for another good half an hour and i went out of there smiling! She told me before i left that i was really high up there and she would call me to let me know if i got it or not.

So a fews days went by and i was a totally different person. I was so happy and smiling all the time, everyone at work was noticing! I told everyone about my interview and everyone was so exited for me. A few more days went by with no call. I made sure i was charging my phone every night just to make sure i always had a good battery just incase she was going to call. Corny i know but thats what i do when i really want something.

What is even more weird is i was thinking this whole time that, i have never wanted any thing so bad in my life! I have never seen something and gone after it this hard before which is weird to me. Ever since i started working at Wally world i have lost some of my go and get it attitude, and coming to that realization was a very hard thing to do. I have noticed hat there was something wrong but never did anything about it. Click on the label SMILE to see all the posts
Coming to this realization just made me want the job even more, i started not being able to sleep.

That started Friday, I was at work a little depressed because it had almost been a week and i hadn't even got a call yet. I started going through my interview in my head over and over and over, thinking of all the things i could have said or should have said differently. I was getting my self all worked up.

Until my friend James came and told me some very good news!

He came and seen me at work and asked me if i go the job, i told him that i haven't herd and it didn't sound to promising. He leans in and says "She called me today!" BIG SMILE..."She DID and what did you say!!"

Tune in tomorrow for the last part of the story!! Its gonna be good!

Hope everyone has a wonderful night, and a good sleep!!
I would like to start off today by apologizing to everyone for not posting in awhile. I have been so busy i have barley had time to do anything, even sleep. But this is not me complaining not one bit!!

So for the next few days i am going to tell you this months story...so here I go...

It all started at the beginning of the month, everyone at work knew that i was looking for a new job and being the wonderful friends they are, they were watching out for me too. I have been looking for awhile for a change. I have worked at Wal-Mart for 2 1/2 years and needless to say it was time for a change.

There was a job posting on line, and if it wasn't for my friends i wouldn't have even known about it. It was for a job at a local photography studio, Sooter's. I applied on Wednesday Feb 2nd and I was so nervous, and it went very well. I talked with the manager for about 45 mins and she really seemed to like me. We had a lot in common which is really god when you are applying for a job.

I got a call on friday to come in for an interview, and went for the interview on Saturday. I was so exited i died my hair and got my eye brows done and everything. I practiced putting on make up, i haven't done my make up in forever! It took me over an hour to do my make up, i wanted it to be perfect!

Stay in tuned for the interview....
